GPS Tracking Fall Alarms

Requests for a GPS Tracking Fall Alarm for the Elderly or those with dementia are one of the most popular we receive from customers calling us for advice.

GPS Tracking Fall AlarmsMany of us have very active elderly parents who still get out and about in the community and countryside. This presents a challenge for those of us who wish to offer our parents a simple method by which they can get in touch, no matter where they are, should they fall or have an emergency.

Personal Alarms for the Elderly come with a neck pendant or wristwatch that make a call by signalling back to a base station. These are great if you only require reassurance whilst in the home but once out-and-about the elderly person is no longer protected.

It's taken us a while to find the best quality product but we are now stocking the Medilarm Tracker that combines GPS Tracking capabilities with an integrated Fall Alarm. Its also crammed with other features like a Safety Zone that will that alert you if the elderly person moves outside of a set area - great for those with dementia. All features can be fully configured, if required, so you can adjust it to suit your own specific circumstances and always be able to stay in touch with your elderly relative.

A GPS is a simple tracking device that uses satellites to precisely pinpoint a person's location. This is the same technology that is used in car based Sat Nav devices but without the annoying voices!

The Medilarm Tracker Elderly Personal Alarm combines this technology with an integrated mobile phone that sends text messages to up to 5 people with precise location details and then calls up to 5 people with whom a two-way conversation can be held.

The text message contains precise location details that can be entered into the free online software Google Maps to show an exact location accurate to within 5m.

The device is the size of a small mobile phone and is lightweight enough to be worn around the neck on a strap or carried in a pocket.

Excellent battery life means it can last for up to 10 days without charge and it will even send you a text message and beep if the battery level gets below a certain level.

Whilst this device is one of the most flexible we've ever seen, it really is easy to setup the basic features - simply send it 3 text messages and you're done.

It needs a Pay-As-You-Go SIM card to operate and there are 'No Monthly Fees', long service contracts or call centres, saving you money and ensuring your elderly relative can always get in touch with someone they know - wherever they are.

Personal Alarms For The Elderly will summon help from a friend, relative or carer, at the push of a button.

Many of us worry about the well-being of our elderly parents and relatives as they get older but are keen for them to be able to maintain their independence for as long as possible.

mother-daughter-200x133Our range of Personal Alarms For The Elderly can greatly enhance the confidence of the wearer as they allow them to move around their home and garden, safe in the knowledge that should they fall they are able to summon help at the press of a button.

We provide a range of Personal Alarms For The Elderly that make it simple for a parent or relative to get in touch with their carer or family member without having to go through to a call centre. This means they can immediately feel at ease in using the personal alarm as they know they will always get in touch with someone they know. It also means that you don't have to pay expensive monthly monitoring fees or continually pay rental for a device you will never own.

The owner will usually wear a panic button on a lanyard around their neck, or on their wrist like a watch.

If the panic button is pressed the Personal Alarm For The Elderly can dial the numbers it has been programmed with and automatically send a text message, just like you would from a mobile phone. This two-fold approach to asking for help always ensures that you know when your parent or relative needs assistance. Furthermore, all our Elderly Personal Alarms can call up to 5 numbers and text up to 3 more so additional family members or carers can be notified if the primary carer is unable to respond.

Our Personal Alarms For The Elderly are simple to set-up and we provide after-sales support and answers to common questions through the support section of the website. Every product comes with an instruction manual with step-by-step instructions on how to set it up but if you don't want to do this yourself then we also provide Setup and Installation Services.

Both of our Personal Alarms work by using the mobile phone networks to make calls and send text messages to your pre-programmed numbers. Because they use the mobile phone networks they don't need to be connected to a phone line and can be located anywhere in your home there's a mains power socket nearby.

They need a small SIM card inserted, like the one in a mobile phone, for them to work. We recommend that you use a low cost Pay-As-You-Go SIM Card that can be purchased from us or are usually available at mobile phone shops. You must ensure that you have a good mobile phone signal in the area you wish to place you Personal Alarm.

Medilarm Classic

The Medilarm Classic is a simple one button emergency calling system that can call up to 5 numbers, in sequence, and/or send a text message, once the SOS button or the Wristwatch style button is pressed. It will also allow the person whom the alarm dials to listen in to the local surroundings.

Its about the size of a desktop calculator and can be situated anywhere in your house where it can get a mobile phone signal.

There is a maximum range of between approx 50m -100m of the base unit. This varies due to the surroundings the device is situated in.

Medilarm Pro

The Medilarm Pro is our more fully featured product that can be expanded with additional sensors and programmed in more detail to meet personal requirements. It will also call up to 5 numbers, in sequence, and/or send a text message, once the SOS button is pressed. There is a built in microphone and loudspeaker so when the friend or family member answers you can have a two-way conversation with them.

Additional sensors can be purchased that will monitor for movement at certain times of the day and send an alarm if none is detected. Its also possible to add smoke, heat, gas and water leakage sensors to the device to give extra environmental monitoring. Static emergency buttons can also be added around the home for extra reassurance.

The Pendant Emergency Button can be worn around the neck or the Wristwatch Emergency Button can be purchased as an optional extra. They wil work up to a maximum range of between approx 50m -100m from the base unit. This varies due to the surroundings the device is situated in. Its also possible to add extra wall mounted emergency buttons to the system. Pressing any of these buttons will call the emergency contacts you have pre-programmed.

Elderly Personal Alarms - Setup & Installation Options

There are three installation and set-up options available to suit everyone. If you're not confident about setting up the device yourself or getting a friend to do it then we can help.

DIY - you setup and install

Both the Medilarm Classic and Pro Elderly Personal Alarms are designed so they can be set-up by the user if they're inclined to do so. Each device comes with an instruction manual and you'll need to purchase a SIM Card separately or buy one from us. Its a relatively easy process for anyone who is comfortable using a mobile phone or PC (required for advanced settings of the Medilarm Pro only).

You will need to add your numbers to the Elderly Personal Alarm and pair any additional emergency buttons. If your Elderly Personal Alarm comes with an Panic Button Pendant or Wristwatch as part of the package then we'll have paired them for you, so it'll work straight out of the box.

Ready to use - we setup, you install

If you'd rather we set up the device with all your preferred numbers and preferences then this can be done for you. Simply go to the Install section of the Store and select the required option.

If you've chosen the Medilarm Classic Elderly Personal Alarm then you'll also need to purchase a SIM from us so that we can save your numbers to it. The Medilarm Pro Elderly Personal Alarm can have the SIM card added later if desired as no information is stored on it.

The Elderly Personal Alarm will then be fully programmed and posted to you. You then need to simply plug it in and attach any additional sensors you may have purchased to the wall.

Full install - we setup and install

If you live in one of the areas we cover then we can offer you a full installation service. This includes us setting up the device with all the phone numbers you require and programming it to meet your preferences. Once complete the device will be posted to you and a visit arranged for a representative to come and un-box it and attach any additional sensors you may have purchased to the desired locations.

Each panic button will be tested and you will be shown how to use the device. If you would like this service please get in touch.
